- Abrasion wear analysis in running shoes using a gridded methodology with CIE-L-a-b colour identification
Wear identification and projection have eluded shoe manufacturers due to the myriad of factors that affect the abrasion wear of shoes. Using a gridded three-dimensional cloud comparison in CloudCompare software, abrasion wear thickness of shoes was identified using the CIE-L-a-b colour system that is interpolated with the physical formula representation of colours. After obtaining the thickness lost, other wear factors like the material properties of the shoe sole, the runners' personal profile and the running schedule were combined for wear projection. The methodological process from a non-destructive wear detection to wear projection allows shoe manufacturers to reduce the iterations of wear testing while maximizing the entire analysis of shoe wear., Journal of Sports Engineering and Technology, Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers -Committee on Publication Ethics, 11巻, 3号, 333, 341, 14 Feb. 2018
Books And Other Publications
- The science of foot and shoes
In addition to the basic design of shoes to match the shape of the foot, they are also designed to improve functionality depending on the purpose. This book explains the science and technology of shoes, including knowledge about the foot, the functions required for movement, and how to choose shoes through your purpose., The Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, 01 Jun. 2013

- The future of sports and lifestyle pioneered by the smart gear
Special lecture at the 64th Society of Systems, Control and Information Engineers (SCI'20), May 2020, Society of Systems, Control and Information Engineers, https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article/isciesci/65/4/65_159/_pdf
The sports and lifestyle field continues to grow, serving as a daily training partner for everyone from top athletes to recreational runners, and as part of corporate health management. This presentation introduced the future prospects that smart gear enabling various sensing technologies will open up in this field, including examples of social implementation.
